Allan Hebeler’s work connects mythic themes with his concerns for the environment and health. A turning point came in his life when his father and mother were diagnosed with cancer, his father passing away two months after diagnosis. The subject of his art changed to the more serious issues of life, using archetypal images to express his feelings.
Most of his paintings are created using mixed media which can include oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel. He also incorporates the computer to plan the composition.
Hebeler was born in Buffalo, NY and graduated from Buffalo State College with a Bachelor of Science in Design. While in college he studied fresco painting in Siena, Italy and has been working in the graphic design field in Buffalo. He recently had one of his paintings, Icarus, shown at the Burchfield Penney.
