Nancy Thayer earned an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from University at Buffalo, and also holds an MS Art Education /Art Therapy from from the University College Buffalo. She is currently a Resident Artist and ceramics instructor at Buffalo Arts Studio. Nancy is intrigued by the pull of water and the push of soil. Clay invites her to transform that energy into a visual statement. She investigates process and technique. She sets disciplined tasks that force her to control size, shape and design. At some point she allows all that information to be secondary and lets the whispering in her ear and the movement of her hands take control. Her images are a flowing representation of water giving into form and form supporting flow.
