Buffalo Arts Studio provides its Resident Artists affordable and safe studio space within a community of artists and arts professionals. We offer private and semi-private studios that are among the best nationally. The studios are well lit, heated (70 degrees), and ventilated. Resident Artists are required to use the studio space to create work and are expected to be on site a minimum of 10 hours per week. Additionally, Resident Artists are required to volunteer 15 hours each year to the benefit of the BAS, its studios, and/or its galleries.
All Resident Artists have access to a ceramics facility with kiln room, print studio with two presses, computer lab, and kitchen. Each artist has the option of having a page on our website and items available for sale in our gift shop. As part of the BAS community, Resident Artists are encouraged to submit work to our Annual Artists Exhibit and Sale, attend bi-monthly meetings, and participate in potlucks, open art critiques, and other events.
Studios become available at various points in the year. Prices are calculated using a set formula based on amenities and square footage. Price is dependent upon the specific space available., but most studio rental fees fall between $140 and $300 per month. If an artist applies to be a Resident Artist and a studio is NOT available, they will be placed on a waiting list and contacted when space is available.
